A soul sanctuary
The Fort Tierkloof is a soul sanctuary. We were two families and the Fort worked amazingly well for us. We stayed 4 nights and have already booked our next trip. Every space is so inviting…from the coziness of inside the house, to the side dining annex, to the upstairs deck, or under the trees or up at the pool…there isn’t a single moment on this property that hasn’t been curated in love and a strong aesthetic eye. The property is so well appointed for every occasion.

Off-the-grid wonderland
Just "WOW". I have stayed in many self-catering places over the years so it’s usually easy to compare places. Serenity definitely reached a new high. Can hardly believe it’s off the grid, as every home comfort is there, and so much more. Do yourself a favour and book right now! You won’t be sorry. The outdoor bath under the Karoo night sky was my highlight.

Tierkloof is 60 km away from the nearest towns and fuel stations (Ceres and Touws River), so when the opportunity arises, we recommend topping up on fuel and any other necessities before you get to Tierkloof as it is self-catering only.
High-quality dry firewood is supplied free of charge. Note: the area is extremely dry and outdoor fires should be safely contained at all times.
Yes, but by prior arrangement only. Guests may be accompanied by pets that conform to the following requirements: be socialised and controllable (Tierkloof has their own, very gentle and friendly dogs who may come and pay a visit and/or you may encounter other guests' pets while out on an excursion); must not chase other animals or birds; no swimming in the pools or climbing/lying on couches and beds. Please note: Any damages resulting from pets will be for the guest's account.
Yes, please note: All cottages are completely self-sufficient - water is generated sustainably and abundantly enough such that there should be no shortage. The water is completely safe to drink. The use of electrical heating appliances such as clothing irons is not possible due to their excessive energy demands on the Solar system. For this reason, while the bed linen is always guaranteed to be washed, it is not ironed.
All cottages are completely self-sufficient - electricity (PV Solar) is generated sustainably and abundantly enough such that there should be no shortage. The use of electrical heating appliances such hair dryers/straighteners/coffee machines/microwaves and clothing irons is not possible due to their excessive energy demands on the PV Solar system batteries. For this reason Tierkloof is unable to run air conditioners, however fans are supplied.
Leopards roam the area freely but they are of the small Cape leopard strain, roughly half the size of their counterparts further north. Due to their small size and elusive nature, Cape leopards are not considered to be a danger to people, and there are no reports of unprovoked attacks.
Access to the farm is via gravel roads. While guests travelling in compact two-wheel drive cars are often hosted at Tierkloof, a high clearance vehicle is advantageous and will turn a slow and careful trundle into a relaxed drive through the veld. Vehicles with low-profile tyres are not advised. Assistance is readily available to guests experiencing any doubts or difficulties. Travelling to the farm requires driving on 20 kms of dirt roads, with the last five being on the farm itself.
